The Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival is Alaska’s largest wildlife viewing festival and honors the return of spring and the breathtaking migration of shorebirds through Kachemak Bay.

Alaska’s largest wildlife viewing festival honors the return of spring and the breathtaking migration of shorebirds through Kachemak Bay.

The Friends of Alaska National Wildlife Refuges and Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, invite you to Homer’s seaside setting: perfect for spotting over 130 migratory bird species, as well as numerous other resident species.  With over 100 events to choose from, there’s something for everyone!  Sign up for bird walks, boat tours, art and photography workshops.  Drop in to hear science talks, become a Junior Birder, or compete in the Bird Call Contest.

Keynote Speaker Jennifer Ackerman will discuss The Genius of Birds.  Featured Author Mark Obmasick speaks on his new book and Featured Presenters Raymond VanBuskirk and Ben Knoot will be offering workshops.  Plus, amazing cut-paper Festival artwork by Valisa Higman.
