Thanks Steve, here’s some tip for traveling outside with your laptop:

  • A vacation is just that. See if your hotel has a PC, you use a family & friend’s computers or there’s cybercafe near by if you feel compelled to check
  • your e-mails.
  • Use a case that isn’t obviously for a laptop, to deter theft.
  • Less is more – unless you will absolutely need it for the laptop, leave it at home.
  • Back up all important documents before you leave.
  • Make sure your operating system, anti-virus, & anti-spyware are up to date!
  • Follow the same rules with your laptop as you do your wallet (keep it close, never lend it out, & keep it safe when you’ve put it away).
  • Make sure that laptop has enough juice to power up for our wonderful airport security personnel.
  • Remember that an X-ray machine will not erase your data, but a metal detector might.
  • Keep your laptop out of overhead bins when flying.
  • Once you arrive, change the date and time settings to your new home.

Safe travels & happy computing from your friends at the Big Alaska Show!
