Polar Bear Plunge

How’s this for fun. Jump into freezing water.  But it proves cash works!  Each of the 150 participants who will jump into the icy waters is being sponsored to jump from donations from generous givers.

And it’s call for a GREAT cause:  Fighting cancer.

Plus it’s fun!  Tons of activities all weekend long – and fun- good ol’ wholesome, kick up your heels fun!  Visit www.sewardak.org

Henry Huizenga and I get the honors to co-MC this year’s Polar Bear Plunge. Both of us have lost close ones to us. For Henry, it was his wife, Linda.  For me- my brother, Scott and my mother, Shirley.  An aside about Henry – an oncologist nurse told me that Henry was the best caretaker she had ever met.  I believe that.  Plus, Henry can do anything. Hand him a paper clip and he will use it to draw up blueprints and build the dang thing!  Today Henry is happily remarried to a wonderful woman – Charlotte.

On Saturday, Henry and I will join thousands others who gather around the Seward Harbor to cheer the jumpers and to make our voice be heard:  cancer … WE’RE IN YOUR FACE AND WINNING!! www.cancer.org

BTW-Henry Huizenga is officially an RV snowbird.  He and Charlotte will be heading south for more RV adventures.  Henry is living the life we all want– instead of going outside 3x a year – come to Alaska 3 times a year!  Eat the heart of the watermelon on every visit!

Henry will be back when the weather turns nice.  Then, we’ll be off to fun RV Adventures!

Of course we all know who’s behind the success of this event – Polar Bear Marilyn, staff and volunteers and ….. THE GOOD PEOPLE OF SEWARD!!

Thank you, American Cancer Society. Thank you, Polar Bear Marilyn.  Thank you, Seward.  You’re truly an All-American city!
