Andy Hall was only 5 years old in 1967 when 7 of 12 climbers died on Denali, it’s worst climbing disaster. His father was Superintendent of the Park (then McKinley Park) where Andy and the family lived.

Nothing could be done to save these doomed men. Still, Andy’s dad carried a lingering guilt the rest of his life. Although only 5 at the time, vivid memories of his dad and from the event would inspire Andy to write this book. After 17 years as Managing Editor/Publisher of Alaska Magazine, Andy set on a quest to tell this story of the climbing disaster that would change the mountain climbing industry forever. He would also put to rest the lingering doubt. There was nothing his father could do.
